Sonoma Valley Hospital To Offer Personal Medication Reviews At Vintage House

Jan 21, 2020 | Sonoma Valley Hospital News

Sonoma Valley Hospital invites community members to put their medications and supplements in a bag and bring them to Vintage House for review by a hospital pharmacist to ensure that there are no potential problems related to drug interactions, dosing, compliance, expiration, and side effects.

The hospital’s Pharmacy Department will be conducting two “brown bag medication reviews” on Tuesday, January 28 and February 4 from 2:30 – 4:30 pm at Vintage House in Sonoma. The service is offered by the hospital without cost, but appointments are required.

Brown bag reviews are a SVH safety and healthcare initiative allowing community members to bring in all of their prescribed medications, supplements, vitamins, and over-the-counter products they now take or have on hand. The SVH Pharmacist will check to assure that there are no areas of concern related to their use.

“These ‘medication check-ups’ will be especially helpful for those with prescriptions from multiple physicians or pharmacies,” said Chris Kutza, PharmD, and SVH Pharmacy Director. “You will have a one-on-one private session with a professional pharmacist to review your medications and supplements. We will give you an updated personalized medication list and relevant information to make sure that you are getting the most out of your medications.”

Please call Sonoma Valley Hospital’s Community Outreach group at 707.935.5257 to make your appointment or email community@sonomavalleyhospital.org. The hospital will be filling appointment slots on a first-come, first-served basis.

Vintage House is located at 264 1st Street East in Sonoma.
