Sonoma Valley Hospital has named Sabrina Kidd MD, FACS, FASCRS, as Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Kidd, a dual board certified colorectal and general surgeon, has been affiliated with the hospital as a surgeon since mid-2016. She replaces Robert Cohen, MD, who retired early this year.

“Dr. Kidd brings to the role strong leadership qualities and a valuable familiarity with Sonoma Valley Hospital and the Sonoma medical community,” said Kelly Mather, SVH CEO. “We sought an innovative, forward-thinking physician, one who would be a strong leader and would work well with our medical community, and also help develop our new partnership with UCSF Health. I’m especially pleased because we have a strong vision for the future of the hospital and I believe Dr. Kidd will be invaluable in helping us realize that vision in the coming years,” Mather added.

As CMO, Dr. Kidd will work closely with the hospital’s medical directors and serve on the administration team in overseeing existing services and helping plan new services and programs. She also will serve on the UCSF faculty and act as their Medical Director for SVH, working closely with the CMO of UCSF Health, especially in identifying areas of collaboration between the two hospitals.

Dr. Kidd received her MD degree from Tulane University School of Medicine. She went on to an internship at Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix, AZ, followed by a general surgery residency through Michigan State University Grand Rapids Medical Education Partners in Grand Rapids, MI. She held a Colorectal Surgery Fellowship at USC, before moving to Sonoma County. She is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and the American Society of Colon & Rectal Surgeons (FASCRS).

Her practice specializes in the surgical treatment of colorectal cancer, benign colon and rectal disorders, anorectal disorders, colonoscopy, gallbladder disease, and more. She has an office in the Sonoma Valley Hospital Specialty Clinic located at 462 W. Napa St. in Sonoma.
