Ophthalmologist Michael Saidel MD will provide a comprehensive look at how cataracts can affect our vision as we age, and what can be done about them, at the next Sonoma Valley Hospital “Conversation With A Doctor” information session.
Cataracts are a concern for many as we age. The American Academy of Ophthalmology reports cataracts affect more than 24 million Americans age 40 and older and, by age 75, approximately half of all Americans experience cataracts. Fortunately, cataracts are treatable with a surgical procedure considered to be safe and effective, typically performed on an outpatient basis in less than an hour.
Dr. Saidel will discuss the cause, symptoms, and treatments for cataracts including both traditional and the newer laser surgical procedure.
The talk will be held on Monday, March 25 in the Hospital’s Basement Conference Room, from 12:00 pm Noon – 1:00 pm. There is no charge and the number of attendees will be limited to allow for informal discussion and audience questions, so RSVPs are requested. Dr. Saidel is an ophthalmologist with subspecialties in cornea and refractive surgery. He earned his medical degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He did his ophthalmology residency at Tulane University and his cornea fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco.”
